The integration of a City Labs structure will allow the EUonAIR alliance to design initiatives and the adequate spaces and infrastructures to address urban challenges, foster innovation, and improve the quality of life in cities effectively. Engagement of different urban stakeholders will be enabled thanks to the City Labs methodology, which involves a systematic approach to urban problem-solving, collaboration, and experimentation and that transforms the EUonAIR University Campus into the centrepiece of the different cities ecosystems.
The alignment of the 11 universities with the City Labs structure and methodology leads to the formation of what we term “Smart and Green UniverCity Labs”. These university-based innovation and research labs will play a crucial role in fostering interdisciplinary research, innovation, and collaboration within the academic community and the professional, institutional and social ecosystems and provide an environment conducive to research, innovation, and knowledge transfer.
The Smart & Green UniverCity Labs integrate the principles of sustainability, technology, and innovation to create an international living laboratory structure that addresses urban challenges and promotes sustainable practices locally.
Integrated by living labs, the Smart & Green UniverCity Lab structure serves as a model for sustainable urban development, showcasing how innovative technologies and interdisciplinary collaboration contribute to a more ecologically sustainable and resilient future.
The Smart & Green UniverCity Lab structure entails the coordination of 11 Smart & Green UniverCity Lab local points (or more) in the cities of EUonAIR’s partners.
A multidisciplinary EUonAIR team comprised of experts in areas such as urban planning, environmental science, data analytics, and technology will work collaboratively and synergistically in the space of MyAI University and the Smart and Green UniverCity Labs to ensure our main goal: meaningful and lasting social and urban transformation. A network of diverse stakeholders will contribute from the beginning to the identification of common challenges and the exchange of best practices, solution blueprints and lessons learned.
The Smart & Green UniverCity Lab structure will set a standard for future smart and sustainable urban living solutions, within the EUonAIR framework and beyond.
