Hackathon “Tokyo vibe, Warsaw drive”
The “Tokyo vibe, Warsaw drive” hackathon was a five-day educational and technological event organised by the Department of Multimedia at the Polish-Japanese Academy of Information Technology. The programme combined competition challenges, expert lectures, workshops, and practical work focused on road safety, automotive technologies, driving simulators, immersive technologies, 3D environments, and digital asset development.
Participants worked with a passenger car driving simulator developed at PJAIT and completed tasks related to safe electric vehicle doors and the creation of digital assets for the simulator using 3D scanning and online visual references. The event also included three workshops and expert sessions that supported participants in developing technical, creative, and interdisciplinary skills.
The hackathon additionally served as a platform for EUonAIR Awareness Raising and dissemination activities, connecting the project’s objectives with practical discussions about emerging technologies, digital innovation, responsible technology development, and the skills needed to work with rapidly evolving technological solutions.
The five-day hackathon programme combined lectures, workshops, technology demonstrations, competition challenges, and final presentations:
Introductory Lectures and Expert Sessions – sessions covering road safety, automotive technologies, driving simulators, immersive technologies, 3D environments, digital asset development, and practical applications of emerging technologies.
Three Practical Workshops – smaller-group sessions for approximately 20 participants each, focused on direct interaction with instructors and practical application of acquired knowledge.
Driving Simulator Demonstration – presentation of a passenger car driving simulator developed at PJAIT as part of Patryk Kamiński’s Master’s thesis.
Competition Challenge: Safe Doors for an Electric Car – development of concepts combining technological innovation with road and user safety.
Competition Challenge: 3D-Scanned Asset for the Driving Simulator – creation of a digital asset for the simulator using 3D scanning technology.
Competition Challenge: Asset Based on Online Visualisations – development of an asset for the simulator using online visual reference materials.
Presentation of Results and Event Summary – presentation of participants’ projects, discussion of developed solutions, and summary of the hackathon.
EUonAIR Awareness Raising Activities – dissemination activities integrated into the workshops, lectures, and practical tasks, focusing on emerging technologies, digital innovation, responsible technology development, and interdisciplinary skills.
