EUonAIR at the Long Night of Sciences
EUonAIR at the Long Night of Sciences – HTW Berlin, 28 June 2025
On 28 June 2025, the Long Night of Sciences took place at our HTW Berlin campus, where EUonAIR was proudly represented with a series of engaging workshops and student showcases exploring the impact of artificial intelligence in education and society.
Workshops included:
- AI in Design – Creative Stereotypes? (Sophie Schauer)
- Artificial intelligence can generate images, texts, videos, and even music. But how does this change work processes in design? Are AI systems truly creative, or are they simply reusing existing ideas? This interactive workshop invited design enthusiasts, students, and professionals to discuss the future of creativity in the age of AI.
- Artificial Intelligence for Senior Citizens: Practical Support or Pandora’s Box? (Prof. Katharina Simbeck)
- Large language models like ChatGPT fascinate with their ability to write, explain, and create. This session examined whether such systems can act as personal tutors and revolutionize lifelong learning, or whether they risk making us overly dependent on machines. Participants explored the promises and limitations of generative AI and its potential impact on the world of work.
- AI for Teachers – Who Does the Homework Now? (Prof. Katharina Simbeck)
- A hands-on workshop for educators with no prior AI knowledge. Participants explored how tools like ChatGPT can support students with homework, presentations, or podcasts, and debated what kind of AI assistance is desirable, useful, and manageable in teaching.
In addition, our students presented prototypes of intelligent tutoring systems, which visitors were able to test and experience firsthand.
The Long Night of Sciences once again proved to be an inspiring platform to bring AI closer to the public, spark debate, and showcase the innovative work being carried out at HTW Berlin under the EUonAIR Alliance.
