EUonAIR at the vhs Heilbronn AI talks / 12.10.2026

When AI writes texts, holds conversations or recognises images, does it actually understand what it is doing?

In his talk “The Intelligence Bluff – what AI really can (’t) do”, Daniel Nill, Professor of Perspective at Hochschule Heilbronn - Hochschule für Technik, Wirtschaft und Informatik and doctoral researcher at the Technical University of Munich (TUM), took a closer look at the illusion of artificial intelligence as part of the "KI-Talks" series organised by VHS Heilbronn.

In an engaging and accessible way, he explored why impressive results do not necessarily mean that a machine can think or understand – and how our concept of intelligence continues to evolve with each new generation of technology. This makes it all the more important not only to use AI, but also to question it critically and understand its limitations. And this is exactly where EUonAIR European University Alliance Consortium comes in: together with our alliance partners, we are working to integrate AI responsibly into education, research and university development. Because what matters is not just what AI can do, but, above all, how responsibly we use it.

Many thanks to Daniel Nill for the fascinating evening and to VHS Heilbronn for providing the setting for this exchange.
