Hochschule Heilbronn Officially Launches the EU-Funded EUonAIR Alliance
In May 2025, Hochschule Heilbronn (HHN) marked the official launch of the EU-funded EUonAIR alliance with a ceremonial kick-off event held at the Bildungscampus in Heilbronn.
The event brought together around 40 participants, including students, academic staff, representatives of the Ministry of Science, Research and the Arts (Baden-Württemberg), and members of the university leadership, offering an opportunity to exchange views on EUonAIR’s goals and planned activities. EUonAIR (“European University on AI in Curricula, Smart UniverCity and (Return) Mobility”) is a new European University Alliance focused on embedding responsible, ethical artificial intelligence across higher education—spanning teaching, research, and international mobility.
The programme opened with welcome remarks by Prof. Ruth Fleuchaus, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation at HHN. Isabell Steidel, EUonAIR Project Lead at HHN, then provided an overview of the alliance’s structure and implementation approach. HHN’s contributions and priorities were presented by Prof. Carsten Lanquillon and Prof. Alexandra Reichenbach, including insights into the “MyAI University” initiative and how AI is already being integrated into teaching and learning.
Internationalisation and cross-border collaboration—core elements of EUonAIR—were further highlighted in a contribution by Prof. Susanne Wilpers, emphasising expanded student exchange and joint project work across partner institutions. The event concluded with a keynote by Prof. Ralf Dillerup, who addressed Heilbronn’s role as an innovation and AI hub and the ways regional strengths can support the alliance and its wider European impact.
With this kick-off, HHN reaffirmed its commitment to international cooperation, practice-oriented education, and the development of responsible AI competencies—supporting EUonAIR’s broader mission to shape the future of European higher education.
