Luxembourg School of Business hosted Professor Joel Mokyr in Luxembourg
Luxembourg School of Business had the pleasure of hosting Professor Joel Mokyr in Luxembourg this summer.
Professor Mokyr, laureate of the 2025 Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and Robert H. Strotz Professor of Arts and Sciences at Northwestern University, joined us for a lecture on the origins of sustained growth.
At the heart of his argument is the role of useful knowledge - not simply invention, but knowledge that explains why things work, supported by institutions that test, challenge, share and preserve it. Sustained growth, in this sense, depends on a society’s capacity to continuously produce and circulate knowledge. The lecture marked the opening of our Joint KUL–LSB PhD in Business Administration, developed in partnership with KU Leuven, with Professor Mokyr serving as Patron of the program.

The event also formed part of an EUonAIR awareness-raising workshop, supporting wider dialogue on knowledge, innovation and technological progress.
