University of Piraeus Represents EUonAIR at EU-CONEXUS Conference 2026
The University of Piraeus represented the EUonAIR Alliance at the EU-CONEXUS Conference 2026, “Challenges, Innovative Solutions and Collaborative Actions for Sustainable Urban Coastal Development”, held at the Agricultural University of Athens on 10 June 2026.
As part of a dedicated session bringing together representatives of six European University Alliances, entitled “Research Area Structures in European University Alliances and Stakeholder Collaboration on Coastal Projects – Collaboration Opportunities”, Professor Maria Psillaki, EUonAIR Scientific Coordinator at the University of Piraeus, presented the EUonAIR’s vision and practices in research support and innovation.
During her presentation, Professor Psillaki introduced EUonAIR’s mission to advance artificial intelligence in higher education, smart UniverCity ecosystems, and mobility across Europe. She highlighted the Alliance’s research supporting activities, collaborative structures that promote research cooperation among partner institutions, and examples of engagement with stakeholders from the public sector, industry, and regional communities.
The session offered an important platform for dialogue and networking among European University Alliances, fostering the exchange of knowledge, experiences, and good practices in the development of research and innovation ecosystems. Participation in such events is particularly valuable for EUonAIR, as it strengthens collaboration with peer alliances, creates opportunities for future joint initiatives, and supports the sharing of successful approaches to stakeholder engagement and societal impact. The discussion also highlighted the importance of building strong connections with external stakeholders, including public authorities, businesses, civil society organisations, and regional actors, to ensure that research and innovation activities effectively respond to societal needs and contribute to sustainable development.
By participating in the conference, EUonAIR reinforced its commitment to openness, collaboration, and mutual learning, while further expanding its network within the European Universities Initiative. Such exchanges are essential for strengthening the role of European University Alliances as long-term, impactful actors in the European Higher Education area and for creating innovative solutions that address common challenges across regions and communities.
